Scottish Government’s Fair Work Framework
Driving Sustainable Growth and Economic Recovery in Scotland
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Scottish Government is placing a strong emphasis on Fair Work as a crucial element for achieving sustainable and inclusive growth. As we navigate through this period of economic recovery and renewal, Fair Work takes on even greater significance and should be prioritised in employment practices, funding, and procurement. To assist employers in this endeavour, a comprehensive framework has been developed, centering on the 5 dimensions of Fair Work: Effective voice, Security, Opportunity, Fulfilment, and Respect.
- Effective voice: effective channels of communication in workplaces along with a safe environment
that enable workers to contribute to discussions, be listened to and make a difference, promoting
an environment of employee engagement. - Opportunity: ensuring that everyone who wants to can access work and, in work, can develop
and progress. - Security: including stability and predictability of employment, working time and
income. - Fulfilment: developing and utilising skills, career advancement and employee engagement.
- Respect: ensuring workers are respected in terms of, for example, health, wellbeing and safety regardless of their role or status.
Fair Work First Statement – Agropack Solutions
Agropack Solutions Ltd (APS) is dedicated to promoting fair working practices.
As an advocate for the Scottish Government’s Fair Work First policy, we wholeheartedly endorse the following commitments:
– At Agropack Solutions, we consider Fair Work a top priority.
– We actively encourage the adoption of Fair Work practices within our sector.
– We set a positive example by implementing these practices within our own organisation.
Effective Voice: Enhancing Workplace Communication and Employee Engagement
At Agropack Solutions, we prioritise effective communication and feedback with our employees and subcontractors. We understand the importance of creating a safe and productive environment where everyone has a voice and can make a difference.
We support the development of a working environment that values individuality and encourages open dialogue. We promote a culture where questions are welcomed, concerns are addressed, and support is readily available to enhance the experiences of those within the business
Ensure Fair Wages: Payment of the real Living Wage
We prioritise fair working by adhering to the 2023 real Living Wage rate for all employees. Our commitment extends to subcontractors, who already receive a salary above the current real Living Wage.
No to Zero-hour Contracts
No unfair use of zero-hour contracts, only used for valid reasons.
We are committed to upholding our policy against zero-hour contracts. However, we understand that there may be legitimate and necessary situations where their use is appropriate. For example, it may be requested by an employee or utilised to manage sudden increases in workload. Any existing zero-hour contracts will be regularly evaluated to ensure their ongoing suitability.
Investment in workforce development
Investing in the growth of our workforce is crucial for their success in their respective roles. We firmly believe in supporting continuous learning and development within our organisation through various learning opportunities and on-the-job training. Our goal is to provide equal access to employment and foster personal growth and advancement for all.
Promoting Diversity, Inclusion, and Equality in the Workplace
At Agropack Solutions Ltd, we are dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture where everyone is valued for who they are. Proudly, we can say that we have no gender pay gap within our organisation.
We firmly believe in promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion throughout our company. We recognise the importance of having a diverse workforce, including employees, subcontractors, and freelancers, to drive success and innovation.
Flexible and family-friendly working practices.
At Agropack Solutions, we believe in supporting our workforce to work in a way that suits their needs and benefits the organisation, the job, the employee, and the team. From day one of employment, for office based staff, we offer flexible working options that include working from home or a hybrid model. We also offer flexible working options for workshop employees and sub-contractors.
We continuously review and adapt our working patterns to ensure they meet the needs of both new and existing employees. Our policies comply with statutory requirements and are available to all employees.
In practice, we consider all requests for flexible working on their own merits, taking into account the needs of the business. Our default approach is to agree to flexible working requests unless there is a valid business reason not to.
APS may change this information periodically by updating this page. You should return to this page every so often to ensure that you are happy with any changes we have made. This policy is effective from 08 September 2023
